A midwit is someone with a slightly above average IQ, like one standard deviation (115). These people are intelligent enough to peddle mainstream ideas and remember things that they have been told, but not intelligent enough the make profound, original breakthroughs. They fall into an intellectual trap where they integrate their intelligence into social game and “getting on” in life, as opposed to being so intelligent (130 - 145 at least) to think creatively and get rejected, but solve difficult problems. Yes, these people are smart, but not highly intelligent. They are the perfect tools.

A midwit is someone with an IQ of 85-115; You and I are midwits.

The Any Forums conception of a "midwit" is what people with a vocabulary past that of middle school call a "pseudo-intellectual" or "bug-man".

Average range of intelligence (+/- 1 standard deviation) certainly exhibit midwit behaviour. But it is usually the moderately smart ones which are the most impactful and smug.
