Your example answers your question. For an obese person, the treatment is diet and exercise. For a trans person, 95% of the time(there are exceptions) the treatment is gender affirming care (dressing as a girl, hormones and surgery to change your sex). In both cases, the best treatment proven by studies and science is being given to the patient.
