No. Here's why. For them, it is no longer about facts and logic anymore. Narcissism has been actively encouraged in society for decades but ESPECIALLY among the left/liberals. What is all of that victimhood mentality, virtue signaling, weird little niche forks of intersectional identity, and boutique activism REALLY about? It is about making damn sure that these people are self-absorbed narcissists who are obsessed with how others in their shitty little political subculture perceive them.
What does this have to do with their perception of factual reporting?
Well, they've already internalized this idea that fitting in with a certain contrived liberal culture of the managerial class is a virtuous thing. Being ostracized from this culture is a scary thing for them. At this point, they have been thoroughly groomed and brainwashed to be staunch defenders of all of our prestigious institutions -- no matter what their past track record has been of being unreliable.
So, the narcissism acts as a kind of control mechanism for the elites. All they need to do is tell these people that believing everything the media tells them unquestionably makes them into sophisticated and morally righteous people who are definitely better than those Trump supporters or whatever other word they use to label people who don't trust our institutions like """""antivaxxer"""""
