"perfectly good", why would you say that OP? The school was built in the sixties, looks the part, and half the school are modular buildings anyway. Of course they want to get rid of it.
More importantly, no parent will send their kid to such a place where so much murder happened. Call it superstition, but most just won't. The school district knows that, so now their options are either demolishing the school or replacing it. They chose the latter.
