Flights cannot take off without both pilots. If either is out, the flight is cancelled. Best they can do is if there are two flights, one with captain out and the other with a first officer out, they can combine them into a crew for one flight, provided they're both qualified on the same aircraft.
It literally takes a few minutes to see the whole world of live aircraft, and it's a source of happenings too. I once caught a mayday from a Raf cargo plane on the tarmac, the next day it was in the news about how a female soldier was murdered in a rad base inside an airplane, it was mentioned but not glossed over, very weird incident. I'm guessing it was niggers.
