The power of the human race to affect and control it's environment has increased exponentially as our technology has increased. Therefore, a global government is necessary because greenhouse gasses in China affect the USA and vice versa. Pollution, economics, war. All of these things now have potential to affect humanity as a whole in ways they were incapable of in the past
Likewise, nobody wants to live through a World War 3. The only way to avoid that is to de-tribalize the world.
What this means is that we need to have some kind of global democracy. We need democracy to exist in each and every country, and we need further for each of these countries to have a democratic vote in a global government
