The Greek colonies in southern Italy really amazing, they were just mini-greek nations plotted all over southern Italy. They're still Greek people even to this day.

I was somewhat surprised to find out that northern italians, who I thought were celtic and german, and Greeks are most similar to each other with us being genetically identical in Tuscany I think. Turns out all the pure Greeks from southern Italy and Sicily left during the Byzantine era to repopulate mainland Greece and now Magna Grecia is further away from us than northern italy who stayed somewhat roman and etruscan( greek colonials from argos)

You got to remember mate that Greeks were the first inhabitants of southern-Italy, before the Greek cities barley anyone lived in southern Italy. Before the Rome(the city) these were some of the largest cities/town outside of Main-land Greece.
No one ever removed Greeks from southern-Italy, there is a argument to make to say today they are Greeks. (Remember Jews shill anti-southern Italy propaganda because they were forced out of southern Italy.)
