I remember it.
Some individuals entered the OWS and capilary movements and quickly rose to the top.
While the old guard still held the reigns, those nobodies were invited to one MSM interview after the other for no apparant reason and became their speakers in the public eye without even being known to the actual members.
These people suddenly started talking about race, sexuality and gender and out of nowhere you suddenly had people stand up and interrupt meetings because they wanted inclusion for the group they saw as opressed.

This caused infighting and finally the desolution of the movement from the top down.
Look at the situation now, calling out banks, politicians, lobbyists and the criminal wars of the USA is now basically impossible and something easily brushed aside since genitals and skin colors are most important in the heads now.

"They" (the CIA, probably) saw during Operation Chanology how powerful and dangerous a decentralized grassroots movement to restore freedom in the US would be. It was the first time the Internet had been used for that purpose.

During Occupy Wallstreet, serious threats to the power structure were developing. The CIA, over time, figured out what the seeds of destruction for these movements were: Identity politics.

Ask anyone who actually participated in person at these events. They stayed razor sharp in focus on the inequality in the US. Then one day, women and blacks and gays made it about them. Then it became ineffective, people left, and it died.

That's everything. The focus on what is actually in power is constantly able to stay in power by planting what they learned during Occupy Wallstreet.

They're were just dabbling in memeology.

It's along these lines, there are plenty of posts to be found even contemporary to the protests talking about it. Downside of having such a large spontaneous movement is that is becomes easily co-opted by professional agitators leading an extended group of motivated gullible idiots to sway or seize control. They used the usual protest machine of 'leftist interests' who used every election cycle.

It should also be remembered that the Tea Party movement while more coordinated was nonetheless formed in the aftershocks and was quickly subsumed in turn.
