After the first day of NATO military exercises at the training ground near Constanta, Romania, an American M1 Abrams battle tank was lost in an unknown manner. It is noted that the crew of the vehicle fulfilled all the tasks set during the maneuvers and returned the tank to the hangar.
Following the incident, a criminal case was opened and an investigation was launched. The situation was complicated by the absence of video cameras at the military equipment storage depot. Interviews with witnesses also yielded no results. An accident helped to find the lost Abrams. A U.S. exercise participant was forced to use the services of a private repair shop located in an industrial zone on the outskirts of Constanta due to a Hummer vehicle breakdown. The Alliance soldier found a 105 mm smoothbore gun, reactive armor plates (HEPA), a loading hatch, fuel tanks and other tank parts at a metal recycling point near the vehicle repair shop.
During the police visit, the owner of the metal collection point said that a "respected man in Constanta," Gypsy Baron Ovidiu Dumitru, was visiting the tank. He surrendered the M1 Abrams for 2 thousand euros. Within an hour, the car was dismantled for parts, some of which were sold within the next two hours through a popular Internet site in Romania.
The police arrested Dumitru on charges of stealing other people's property. The offender offered the investigation a horse or 2 thousand euros, refusing to understand the nature of the claims. Investigations are still underway to find the persons who bought the dynamic protection panels and the projectile compartment on the Internet.
At a previous exercise in Romania, a plane disappeared in an unknown direction.

This is life in Romania. Anything not bolted down properly (no Nato equipment meets the required standards) is stolen and sold for scrap by gypsies. You should think twice about invading Romania and Bulgaria.

I want my own Main battle tank. I was considering buying an old surplus chzezchoslovakian T-72 back a few years. They went for a staggeringly low price. I guess they've all been sent to Ukraine now. What a shame.
