Layne Staley, Alice in Chains. Check the unplugged (acoustic) album if you aren't a rocker, and even then. One of the standout 90s bands for me, two vocalists (with guitarist Jerry Cantrell) who really knew how to play off each other. Check out Mad Season too. AiC are the grunge kings imo, Pearl Jam and Nirvana get most fanfare though. Rooster is the only thing on the airwaves these days but the rest of their hits are so much better imo. Great musicians in every spot.
