No because they don't care about the Old Testament, they just pretend to make it seem like there's some brotherhood between the two religions. They acknowledge that it's correct and the word of God (Not their God) but it means about as much to them as the Book of Enoch does to Christianity.
Literally every single commandment and law in the Torah (Old Testament) is inverted in the Talmud, which is the only set of laws they follow. Old Testament says not to burn your kids in sacrifice to Moloch and the Talmud says just have someone else do it for you!

Talmud is a record of discussions about interpreting the Torah, which essentially the old testament.

It's used the exact same way in Genesis where it says "Noah was perfect in his generations" meaning that he was genetically unadulterated.
The root word however is the Hebrew word dor meaning period of time, as opposed to the Greek word Genos, or Genea meaning Generation but either way you see the exact same expression used twice accross two languages.
