Insufficient numbers of available ships, aircraft, and trucks, especially heavy equipment transporters, slowed the movement of soldiers and materiel. In the Kuwaiti Theater of Operations, US Army forces had a logistical & life support component of 42%. The lesson they drew from Iraq I is that that wasn't enough! So they increased it to 61%, 43% of which being logistics alone (Iraq Jan 2005, including civilian contractors). Today's American TTR is 17%.
