You don't understand how Texas works.
California is blue because all of the voters are concentrated in the cities....there are effectively 48 million people in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Fransisco and that pretty much seals that state up as blue.
In Texas there are 32 million people and only about 7 million of them live in Dallas/Houston/Austin.....the bulk of the voter base is out in the smaller cities and towns, and because of that the state votes overwhelmingly red because the Democrats don't have anything to offer those counties.
You try turning Texas blue while strangling the oil industry, go ahead, see how far you get.
