this happened practically in the beginning and most importantly without incident or damage to the cities there

if Russia would only push from one side, then Ukraine would bring _most_ reserves to that place

there is zero chance that Russia's goal was to capture Kiev, because it would involve lots of city destruction, civilian deaths and army casualties
and most importantly wouldn't achieve anything, as none of the elites were there (they had few days warning by Russia)
