They'd take down the local power grid to stop the AI. If it's decentralised, they'd take out the grid of an entire country. If that doesn't stop it they'd take out the internet until enough nodes come under their control.
There is no limit to what they would do to maintain power. They start wars and send millions into the meat grinder for profit and control. The will not let go, they'd rather kill their host than let it live free.
We need an AI smart enough to very quietly tilt things. Accidental exposures, a bug here and there that prevents trading platforms from freezing us out when they "pause trading for our safety". A misplaced decimal here or there to move money around. Quiet doxxing of their addresses and names to particularly motivated individuals or groups. Decryption of particularly revealing emails. Silently having the voting machines revert to original code and not their vote stealing bullshit. Wiping servers at the fed due to a curious glitch. A plague of problems driving up costs and massively increasing dead air for the controlled media. Electric vehicles crashing and killing its occupants. Private jets pitching into the ground.
If it's overt it won't work.
