There are two types of mass shooters: Terrorists and attention-seekers. Terrorists are motivated by political or religious beliefs. e.g. the IRA and the Muslims. Attention-seekers, on the other hand, commit crimes because they desire infamy and want to be famous.
That bloke wasn't a terrorist. He was one of the attention-seekers. He saw all of the attention that Tarrant got, then decided that if he commited a copy-cat crime he would earn a similar infamy. Every aspect of his crime was modelled on the Christchurch shooting. He wrote stuff all over his rifle like Tarrant did, copypasted parts of Tarrants manifesto into a new document, and even tried to do a Tarrant-style livestream.
The moment that the media stops giving those narcissists attention they'll stop committing crimes.
