I think the war was fucking stupid and doesn't seem to afford Russia and strategic gain whatsoever. Having had a physical hold over Crimea and parts of the Donbas already, it was very unlikely Ukraine would ever be eligible for NATO or EU membership for decades. This was all the work of a dying boomer wanting to put his name up there with Stalin and Peter the Great.. my question is, do Russia Bros see any political plan 5 years or so from now? Russians are some of the most based posters on here so it would be a shame for any of them to die.

On a psychological level this was a good thing for Russia now that they understand the ethnic hatred that those in the formerly-white nations have for them. Washington and its lackeys would never tolerate anything less than complete submission from Russia, and this is more widely understood now.
However, that positive development might be slightly offset by a more positive view of Putin, but hopefully we'll still see an increased criticism of him from the right in Russia anyway; and with any luck he'll be dead in a few years. Russia needs a much stronger leader who focuses on Russia's spiritual malaise above all. An iniquitous nation can avail nothing, no matter how great their short-term material gains may be.
