Wtf why is nobody talking about this experience? A million things happen to the heart as one drives through the Mojave with LA as your final destination. Like the radio and sun dials have malfunctioned under the radiant heat and sky; whole decades and generations of music and movies are replaying in your eye and ear, whether you like it or not, whether you think Hollywood is a piece of shit or not. Everything you once though or felt about pop culture before adult embitterment set in is reaching an exciting crescendo as something unconsciously unlocks in your chest. It's probably not good for you, but it is captivating and seductive, as you sweat and drink from your gallon jug of water, and the sun sets into a warm diffused colors. Just beyond the distant mountains, LA sprawls in a million twinkling lights and stars. Time has lost all sensibility, and space seems suspended. This is the land where once Indians roamed but now the train line beats a hard line across the endless expanse. The air is free and weightless, and light and shadow play games as old as the desert itself, causing visual euphoria as you stop off at the rest stop before Barstow to have a cigarette.
This is what is meant by archetypal right? There are literally mythological archetypes in play when you approach the Western Babylon from the desert.
While holding his cell phone, in public transport, while on speaker phone; sending hateful looks to anyone who dared give him the slightest suggestion of disapproval.

You shouldn't smoke pot when you drive.
Oliver Perez
I liked the other direction better. L.A. is a cesspool of bullshit.
Ethan Murphy

The only way to do it is at 2:00 am listening to Coast to Coast am and hoping you don't get pulled over on the hummer highway

HIGHWAY 1 SOUTH (OCEAN ON YOUR RIGHT) FROM SF TO LA IS THE BEST DRIVE IN CALIFORNIA
>WITH A CAR YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE
Zachary Peterson
It's mediocre.
David Powell
I would say the best drive in the country. Maybe the Blue Ridge Parkway instead.
Jason Wright
It's just a bunch of degenerates and Mexicans which now make up 70% of the state.
Thomas Rivera
I too have done this drive.. I agree that going from an empty desert hell to a place with more people than many states is noticably interesting. certainly there is a sense of going somewhere.. there are many people who could not function outside of LA; perhaps this is the reason.

>smell sewage for hours upon approaching LA >arrive in LA at 2am >fuck better then new york or chicago

We came east and went west so it's no surprise. Everyone probably takes the interstate road system west eventually, as nature would have it.
Easton Morgan
If you arent across the Mississippi on the west side. you cant even call yourself "western" anymore. you may as well be a fuckin gook. get on what this OP is getting on.
