Slight nitpick, the liberals have these. The "left" as in the anarchist, antifa, socialist left have some presence in media and academia at best, but otherwise are mostly made up of college students or unstable young people looking for a fight, with maybe some artistic types being involved. The powerful people are still capitalist liberals, while they have some socially liberal views they disagree on a lot of things especially economically with the far left.

The thing is these things existing is useless if no one else is using them, like a payment service needs widespread use to be useful. Quite frankly I don't have the answer, if I did I would be doing it instead of posting here. All I know is the only people the movement is going to attract is people who don't mind being unpersonned and deleted from mainstream services, this is usually just the people with nothing to lose, which is usually just social outcasts and rejects.
My personal opinion, though I can't demonstrate this obviously, is the ideal action is to get a broad support from populists across the world to start taking action against these tech companies, anything that reduces their power to choke off the economy is a good thing. We need to start starving these companies of government revenue and to start enacting punitive regulation for not towing the line.
They look well above average in America, so they have that going for them. Also, they are not feds.
