Anybody else sick and tired of the self-righteousness of activists who lobby against horse slaughter houses in the USA? I've eaten horse numerous times while abroad. I've watched a horse get slaughtered Halal style and eaten that horse after it was butchered (not muslim but I was in a muslim country). I see no reason why we as American's should not have the freedom to slaughter, sell, and consume horse meat if we want to.
There is a controversy where BLM (Bureau of Land management not black lives matter lol) is auctioning off wild horses to people, some of which then sell them to slaughter houses in Canada in Mexico because the USA is under a tyrannical system where horse slaughter is de-facto illegal. Pigs are smarter than horses and dogs and the same people crying over horses being eaten eat pigs and cows and all other types of animals. The wild horses in BLM land are over populated and they need to manage the heard. How is this not the most efficient way to do so?
I am very opposed to veganism but they are the only people with a leg to stand on when opposing horse meat. I'm sick of these hypocrites. Fuck off. In America we don't have access to nearly as wide a range of protein sources as other nations because of our retarded foot taboos. "Don't eat liver!" "Don't eat horse!" "Don't eat tongue!"

Horse meat is higher in protein than beef and rich in Omega-3's. It is a good thing for the public to have access to many different protein sources so they can make their own decisions about their own diet. I'm sick of this hypocrisy and horse meat is not "unhealthy" or "disease-ridden" that idea comes from the fact that it's often black/gray market because it's so taboo and de facto illegal to slaughter in the USA. Fresh healthy horse meat vs the disgusting preservative and food coloring filled drinks and sweets Americans feed their kids? What a fucking joke.

This is 100% correct. We have elk, bison, deer somewhat common in parts of the country. But most americans are stuck on beef/pork/chicken as their only protein sources.

Eating horse is legal in some stats. Horse slaughter is de facto illegal because the USDA doesn't perform inspections and inspections are required for horse meat.

It gets weird. Horse meat is not illegal. Butchering horses for mass human consumption is. If you own a horse, you can butcher him just like you can butcher your own hogs. But you cannot sell the meat. Eating horses is not illegal, its just the mass processing and sale of horse meat. I have eaten a lot of horse, some imported from Kazakhstan and Russia and some locally butchered from friends. It's pretty indistinguishable from beef, maybe a little sweeter, but it's not a powerful flavor like sheep.
This taboo exists only in the Anglosphere and originates from early Christendom banning Wodenists from eating horses which were considered a sacred meat. The French, the Germans, most Europeans, the Russians, all eat horse.
