I'll be reasonable with the 0% interest. Everyone gets a 5 year grace period to begin paying them back. As long as you begin paying them back, it stays at 0%.

Also, lowering the cost of tuition to something in the realm of common sense will help. If anyone can get 4 years for between $12k-$16k, that's reasonable. It's also reasonable to pay back if you can't afford that up front. And if you don't begin to pay it back with the 0% after 5 years, then you're part of the problem and I have no sympathy.

$12k with 0% interest can be paid back in 5 years with a job delivering pizza. And more importantly, could be paid for at the time with a job delivering pizza as the Boomers were able to do and some state universities at the time even has $0 tuition.
Which is much more reasonable than what we have now.

Just to put it in perspective, UCLA sits at about 45k enrolled per year. At $3K per year per student, that's $135 million a year. Not too shabby.

Gas tax holiday is retarded. They did that here in NZ as gas hit NZD$3 per litre. The cut meant price dropped $0.25 over night, then as the weeks went on, the price crept back up to $3 and more (currently ~NZD$3.12 Litre) and now of course at some point, that holiday is going to end and the price is going to suddenly jump another $0.25 over night - I think they mentioned August - who knows where the price will be by then

Most doctors don't actually start turning a real profit until late forties, early fifties. I know, I work with them. I'm even fine with an upward scale for med school where you pay a little more (due to the increased earning potential). If we wanted to slide that to $8k to $10k a year for med school, it's still so much more affordable. You'd end up with $45k or so in debt, sure, but it's more manageable and fair to all parties. I don't think anyone is trying to fuck over the professors so we end up with them not giving a shit; there just needs to be a balance where they can make enough to attract talented people and you're not buried for the rest of your life in debt. A big part of this, too, would be to target the major and treat most professions (including doctors) as a trade rather than some fucking scholar.

BTW, in my world, if you do get your degree(s) and decide to go back to college just to be a professional student, fuck it, you're charged full freight and the 0% interest no longer applies. Once you get a doctorate, those breaks go out the window for future enrollment.
