Pilot here. Most pilots are vaccinated against everything known to man. Industry regulated we travel everywhere. No ones dying of the vax or any other vaccine that I know of. The pilot shortage already existed before the pandemic. Reasons are as follows.
It costs way too much to train to be a pilot ($60-100k plus a University Undergraduate Degree).
It takes as long as a doctor to become a pilot if you have to get an undergraduate degree and reach 1500 hours for your ATPL (before the ATPL you get paid shit)
Starting pay before any mainline carriers is shit at like $30k a year for bullshit hours and shit working conditions. You literally cannot pay off your debt.
Finally all the rich boomer era pilots are retiring or retired early because of covid (They were making $200k+ a year and decided to call it once the pandemic hit)

TLDR the vax has nothing to do with it. Expensive training, high requirements, and bullshit working conditions have caused this.
