it's good but cardio is better for your mental well being. A lot of the lifter memers are in it because they want big muscles for the girls. I dont give a shit about women or how I look, I want to feel good. running does that for me. I find lifting doesnt do the same

I've always just done push-ups, free weights ( low weight high intensity/reps), medicine ball work and cardio and I've been great. Strong in practice and not just looking good in a mirror. Core strength over big biceps imo but everyone has a different philosophy

Swimming is cardio and so is walking. Lifting is resistance training. Being athletic generally is best achieved using both.
