Military lessons of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

No pro-Ukraine or pro-Russian shilling. Just looking for thoughts from Any Forums on what lessons a military strategist could take from this war and apply to a future conflict. For example, the complete obsolescence of tanks against modern air power.

The lack of an Air Force on both sides has led to the conflict developing a real WWI vibe. Russia’s Air Force turned out to be a complete joke and that’s a deal breaker in modern warfare. They also can’t do major thrusts like they tried early in the war because they seem incapable of defending their supply lines. Hence their current strategy is about limiting the frontline and advancing very slowly under masses artillery fire. It’s pathetic frankly, especially because minimizing frontage is something a defender does, not an attacker.

Surprised me how hard the information war came on but I bet plenty of normies just ate all that shit up.

>1000 deaths a day
>Kherson offensive in 2 weeks
>Economy and resources non-existent
>No chance for gayto membership

it's over.

Thoughtful analysis - thanks user.
Yes - people who should know better totally bought into "Iron Man," Ghost of Kiev, and all that horseshit.

Uh huh. I notice no one talks about the Donbas encirclement anymore, same as you don’t see any more comparisons with the timeline of Germany’s invasion of Poland. Wonder why that all went away. Now the front is static YET AGAIN and the entire focus in on one industrial plant YET AGAIN.

Put up or shut up, Russbro. End this thing already.

They can’t. They don’t have the means. So all they can do is psychological ops that accomplish nothing. Russian shills have been saying for months that all the A-list troops aren’t even in Ukraine and Putin just sent garbage cannon fodder. This is a fucked up thing to say, and speaks to how little they care about the lives of their own troops, but it’s false. The A-team tried to seize Kiev and got slaughtered. Now they’re pulling T-62s and BMP1’s out of storage, not sending in their new T-14s because only 4 exist and they break down constantly. Russia shot its load and now that the Donbas offensive has culminated, they have no offensive power left. It’s like what happened to the Germans after Citadel.

They should probably send their shills to the front lines to supplement their losses. An user can dream...

>what lessons a military strategist could take from this war and apply to a future conflict
Loose some weight. You may not escape the country before the total mobilization, and being a fatty won't help you. Also, have good footwear.

Shills are unfit for combat in any capacity. That’s why the send them on the internet. Even if they gave them drones to pilot and drop grenades, they’d fuck it all up and drop them on their own lines. Sending them onto the internet gives them something to do and feel important.

>le military thread!
>immediately ruined with borderline idiotic shitposts made by some military illiterate trying to make Russia who SHIT ON NATO ALL DAY, trying to make these guys look bad because uhhhh

because what

>tanks obsolete
they arent, and if you think they are Id like to meet you in an urban area where my team got tanks, and you dont
>russian airforce
bombing the absolute shit out of ukrainians
>cope about frontage
western sources confirmed that Russians FUCKED ukraine using no more than 100k men stationed in ukraine
there are points in time when ukraine was getting FUCKED by less than 70k men

whats "pathetic" is these fuckwit shit outs that mean absolutely nothing, especially since Russia is very obviously going to win bigly meanwhile ukraine is no the 5th mobilization wave

>ohnononon they are not constantly advancing and pushing and playing my videogame wars
yeah theyre meatgrinding the guys who almost have nobody left to fight, while losing absolutely nothing

Russian pilots had to fly very low to avoid missile defence systems.
Ukrainian soldiers googled how to troubleshoot Javelins.

Artillery still reigns supreme.

Not every plan survives getting hit in the face but the new strategy is live now: dropping 50k tons of hot lead on hohol heads. Putin is toying with them like a cat with prey. He has all the time in the world now. The west is already all in. He is drawing them in and going to wipe Lithuania off the map. Pretty soon you NPCs will be shouting Lithuania Strong! as they commit suicide on Russian steel.

Oh look, a memeflag shill. Why don't you sign up for a four-year hitch in the Marines, pussy?

>tanks obsolete
>complete obsolescence of tanks against modern air power
If you're gonna quote me, quote me. Also, for someone criticizing the military analysis ITT so far, your comment is pretty light on it.

More drones the better, air superiority more important than ever. You only need tanks after you destroyed the enemy. Long range missiles and rockets are more important than tanks.

Hey man can you tell me the price of butter and veggies are in your neck of the woods? Also, how much do you make? I can convert your russian funny money to dollarydoos

> tanks obsolete
Who said this? It really funny how angry you are. You can tell how the war is going by the demeanor of the shills. You guys are really seething lately

>he has all the time in the world
He has 2 more weeks

>Sending them onto the internet gives them something to do and feel important.
Blowing their own brains out would be a better use of their time and more beneficial for everyone else. Shills, if you're reading this, take note!

Good - thanks Leaf.

Okay so why hasn’t anything happened? Why can’t they ever do any encirclements? Why no Air Force? Why no sweeping troop movements? Why just cope and cuck and dig trenches?

Reliable precision guided, shoulder fired anti armor and anti air rockets are to warfare now what the machine gun was at the turn of the 20th century. While it hasn't invalidated armor, it has changed the calculous for how armor must be used in the modern battlefield.
Also, the sheer amount of instantaneous information on the battlefield makes surprise movements of large bodies of troops impossible. Everyone has a decent idea of where concentrations of enemy forces are.
Drone fixed artillery is very effective.

>>tanks obsolete
>they arent, and if you think they are Id like to meet you in an urban area where my team got tanks, and you dont
If I have javelins I'd take that every day of the week.

They could avoid them by flying high too, like the USAF does, but then you need smart bombs to hit targets for that high up. Russia doesn’t have these because they have an economy the same size as New Jersey. Their planes drop dumb bombs and have to fly low to have any chance at accuracy, but that puts them in perfect MANPAD range.

>Trying to save up as much as possible of ukros military assets in the first hours of the offensive and not blacking out internet/power access countrywide ends up costing you a lot more than some shitty soviet-inherited bases and vehicles

True, but still questioning how effective it is in urban warfare.

you know a FUCK about modern warfare, why MONGRELS like you even open their mouth is beyond me
then again there is a saying about idiots having the largest mouths, you just cant help but vomit your idiocy on people

I dont even want to imagine the ugly asymetric face of some FUCKTARD MOUTHBREATHER (you), who watches 3 months of videos of tanks getting shipped directly into a "hot" shotting war, then this FUCKTARD MOUTHBREATHER takes his thumb of his ass and scooters on over to pol, where he blesses everyone with hot off the press knawledge on what is obsolololete and what isnt

I spit directly in your stupid fucking face you probably nonwhite mexibeaner intellectual or some other equally pathetic piece of genetic trash

Inexpensive drones have changed everything, every squad can have one and use it to get real time footage of high above the battle space and you can even use them to drop mortar rounds on the enemy

Posts like this are how you know Russia is losing. Unreal seethe

recon drones are king
even the field kitchen should have some

Good

Javelins aren't a trump card against tanks. A Canadian volunteer lately recounted how a tank accurately shot up his position while outside of javelin range.
They are very effective and have changed how tanks must be used against even light infantry, but it's not the touch of God that the shills are saying that it is

>I spit directly in your stupid fucking face you probably nonwhite mexibeaner intellectual or some other equally pathetic piece of genetic trash
That wasn't very nice.

Yes

Only real lesson about this conflict is that much of Western military establishment and “experts” are absolutely fucking clueless about what an actual war looks like. Part of it is information warfare, part of it is sheer fucking ignorance.

Everything else was predicted by actually knowledgable people.

attacking with 120k Vs defenders that have a least 200k if not alot more.
i dont think Russia can win if it doesnt declear war and use all its military ,altho we dont really know what Russia is playing for
