Why does it matter? Why should teachers be fired for mentioning that they or others are gay? Should historical figures who were partnered to the same sex have those sorts of facts erased or censored? They don't need to announce it to their students at all ever. But I can understand maybe if young students see a gay teacher with their partner they might ask why they're with someone of the same sex and in that case I guess it's ok to say they're gay

I think there's a lot of truth here. Men have been pushed out of teaching as a profession, particularly early chilhood (pre-school, kindergarten, and elementary) and the effects have been devastating.

I originally went to university to become a teacher, I changed majors after my first professional semester courses that put me in a classroom. In my opinion nobody under 40 should be given a certificate to teach.
Most religions just completely cover it up and there IS no database - that's MUCH worse than having records of it.

I can't speak to Canada, but professionalism in classrooms and standards are non-existent in America. I also studied and trained to be a teacher. There's a lot of people who have no fucking business being in a classroom, and they come from all walks of life.

Worst teacher I had in primary school by far was a man, he'd hit the children and stuff, the rest were women. That was my experience anyway. High school they were pretty much equal the men and women teachers

I used to have a neighbor who was a teacher and every time he'd get drunk he'd wanna come over and talk to me and all he would do is bash his own student to death to the point where one could tell he had deeply rooted mental/emotional issues but I'd listen to him and think with teachers like him it's no wonder all the kids and 20 somethings all have shit for brains. I don't even see why they make kids go to school anymore now anyways? Most of them don't even want to be there and they all think they are going to be youtube celebrities and rappers when they grow up. But there's plenty of examples of people who were repeatedly reported and those reports were ignored and buried. If there's just an oral account from someone and possibly a written mention of that - that can be easily hidden and discounted. Religion is a way to build structures that hide abuse and allow people to get away with things they wouldn't in a more transparent, permissive environment.
