I got internet for my boomer parents, it cost 19.95 a month. I spent 3 years travelling and they are now paying 99.95 a month. So what happens is each time a website doesn't load, or the computer is slow due to a virus, they call the internet company and buy a better package. They don't even care when I tell them our infrastructure can't offer them a better speed and they just need to stop installing "updates". But they're dead inside. Cold dead no frontal lobe, zombie fucks.

It's funny listening to boomers cry about how nobody wants to work when the reality is the worker shortage is entirely due to boomers retiring en masse and the US not having adequate levels of younger people to replace them. On a purely population level it might seem we are fine, but when you filter out all those that can't work for some reason, you are left with a small subset of that younger generation that can fill the gaps left by the masses of baby boomers exiting the work force

It's just a lonesome gas station job, late shift, but really it's right up my alley. When the manager said it can get boring at times, I was having a hard time not smiling.

I'm like this except I haven't given up on them yet. It took around 20 job numbers with IInet to get NBN working for my parents, and curry accents just drive me up the wall now.

You'll notice more shopping carts lying around in parking spaces, not gathered up. Which is actually true btw - grocery stores round my part are offering $13 starting to gather carts, and you can actually see the increased number of shopping carts, ungathered, taking up space in a parking slot.

The next step in decline is sabotage of the system - imagine if people not only didn't return their carts, but gathered carts out of the stall and purposely left them in parking spaces, and overturned them! You'd lave a much bigger mess to clean up.
