I haven't moved out yet but get paid 2400 after taxes.
What's worse is I can't even find anything to rent so I can't even compromise.

Rent is so high because tax on rental income is so high. Lot of small landlords are selling up and getting out of the game. Hope you like renting from a vulture fund that will set their prices sky high and leave apartments empty solely to maintain the value of the structure.

Thats the thing. They arnt actually in the renting out property business. Their job is to stash cash in buildings and make sure those buildings keep their value.
