Get a set of torx screwdrivers and disassemble it. Then use some sandpaper to scratch up the disks inside. It takes about 15 minutes and the data is guaranteed to be destroyed.

Note that there is sometimes a screw deliberately hidden underneath a sticker.

Data can be recovered if you just write ones over the whole disk. Not 100% but probably well enough to find something incriminating. Smashing it is faster and safer. If you really want to resell it or something at least follow DoD 5220.22-M procedure
