consider what is abstract from the reality you inhabit.
physics is a novel concept for those not in the profession, it should be treated in a novel manner. i.e. "ah that's an interesting idea". one shouldn't inherit the reality of a known professor of physics, or the information that is derived from that source - as if factual and inherent to ones reality. as they're unlearned from the perspective teachings of said abstraction. as such as to not let that reality inflict upon you the worrysome concerns or trials that are also inherent in that worldview.
that is wilful ignorance, to otherwise be subject to the worrysome nature and trials of all abstract concepts not within your reality, simply for the passing enjoyment of their novel aspects.
another example more close to home would be flat earth. "ah that's interesting" - but don't tie yourself to the inherent knowledge necessary to untangle that reality worldview and make sense as that would encompass a necessary learning of all related sciences.

Everyone I've heard talk about this stuff seems to take the "simulation" aspect literally, like they are floating in a bacta tank wearing a VR or something... The closest things we see here are simulated meat ("impossible burger"), or simulated gears/engine sound in cars ("so it feels right"), or virtualization technology.
I never hear simulation discussed as applied to social relations, like for example democracy as a simulacrum of itself, simulated freedom, simulated civic national idea, etc

In this 2 minute video of Super Mario World, a technique called arbitrary code execution is performed.

Through a series of precise actions by the Mario character, code is written into the memory of the SNES and then run.
In this particular version they write the code to warp Mario into a version of the snake arcade game. It works on the original console with a regular cartridge plugged in.
The point is that if we are in a simulation, the goal should be to figure out how to perform arbitrary code execution through actions done within the game (our universe).
All of these sorts of techniques are discovered first through noticing glitches and then pushing them as far as they can go

I guess what counts as winning is really a matter of perspective. Do you prefer having a steak with Mr. Smith, or do you take more comfort in dying in a glorified tin can knowing you're not culpable?
Then there's the question of whether you're not just plain wrong (eg you think youre redpilled but you actually sweat blue without noticing). That is another possibility.
It seems to me that what one picks at the end of the day is just a matter of personal preference or upbringing. You still have to live with your own decisions at the end of the day, no matter what they are. being ignorant just makes it easier.

also ironically, if we were to assume that simulating reality like ours was possible then it would be so easy to crash this reality it's not even funny. every program has core code it runs to provide the reality with basis for functioning. the operational system. a system that keeps fundamentals in place or range. could the reality's operational system handle its objects thinking about the nature of reality? no it couldn't because it would overload since it would have to process itself through its objects.
imagine yourself thinking for every cell in your body. imagine the streams of trillions of thoughts thinking about the same thing all at once. you wouldn't be able to handle even process 2 or 3 times the information that you process normally, but imagine it being x10000.. you would literally meltdown. you body temperature would rise to 1000 degrees in you would burn like a torch leaving a pile of ashes in less then a nano-second... so no.. if anyone of us live in simulated reality and was realizing the nature of such reality, then the reality would overload even even it was only 1 person doing it, so it would be enough just 1 object in reality to shut it down permanently.
