There's nothing wrong with Juneteenth. Celebrating liberation is a good thing, it's always made sense to recognize the end of slavery specifically. I'm from Texas, so it's something I've been aware of being recognized my whole life.
My impression is that most resentment is that to most it seems like a whole new thing that's a result of the George Floyd protests, which they are politically against. If it had been made a federal holiday at some random point, no one would have cared and enjoyed the holiday pay
