How can there be a god when there is so much suffering in this world (past, present & future)? Think about all of the people & animals that have ever lived on Earth and how much they suffered throughout their lives; why would god allow this to happen? Also, why would god put out some arbitrary contract where if you lack faith, then you're automatically doomed to not only more suffering, but eternal suffering? It seems more likely that we are already living in hell.

This is part of the issue to me. Our modern view of god is based on the three Abrahamic religions, which are deeply rooted in Jewish beliefs. Why should we follow them?

All suffering is brought by a misguided desire - the only desire we *actually* have is the return to God, and everytime we separate ourselves from Him we suffer more, crave more, desire screams louder.
