It is, in fact, a codeword. They are subtly implanting the idea that (((they))) have ownership of the levers of power in the minds of normies. When they say "our democracy" what they're referring to is the system of perception management pioneered by Edward Bernays, and expanded upon with the advent of social media. They have been very comfortable with their ability to sway public perception in favor of the goals of the oligarchy. When a leader or movement threatens this power that the perception management industry has curated it becomes a crisis to them, as the work that they do must be continuous and also total at any given time.

no you're not the only one, the left have adopted buzzwords from us like "our people" and the labour party in the UK will use this term for the few people that get deported for being criminals. Our democracy is a term which tries to suggest that we are together but our shared experience isn't nation, race, family or anything tangible but a nebulous idea of "democracy" which supposedly brings us all together. When they say "democracy" they mean their stranglehold on media, academia, finance and politics. Democracies are supposed to be things which promote divergent opinions but that is almost never the context of what they are saying.
