This is also an element. People fight here but there's always a general understanding of active engagement. If you get hit unexpectedly your first thought will be "this must be a mistake" and so you wouldn't immediately start swinging as you'd want them to realize you must not be the guy they're looking for.

I've been in many bar fights with rough chavs and not a single time does it really continue after someone makes it clear they're done or bowing out. It's a basic civilizational and human decency but blacks, browns and albanians don't have it and people need to see them as more like animals than relatable humans.
