Here are some general tips
>wear a helmet even if it looks gay
>make sure helmet is full face
>wear a thick riders jacket, and preferably some kind of gloves and boots
>don't fuck with your phone while riding
>ride slightly faster than the rest of the traffic and avoid ever having a vehicle near you
If possible just don't ride honestly. It gets more unsafe every year as more drivers are distracted by devices

Even debris on the road is out to kill you. Every time I think it's a good idea I go out for a drive and see the multiple things that could cause me to crash from shitskin drivers to clumps of dirt that fell off farm vehicles. There was a random rain storm yesterday that just shit down heavy rain and hail for a solid 20 minutes and tied up the highway, some guy in a new mazda 3 drove into the back of a truck somehow.
Bikes would be amazing if no one else lived on earth.
