It really is fucking bizarre who our ideologies and institutions developed post-WW2. Russia, China, and the US are in a security council because they won WW2, even though they are enemies and unable to guarantee any sort of security. Russia is anti-Fascist in some vague sense, despite Fascism being a natural fit for the society. You can clearly see how much many of those people want to ve Fascists, but because of Hitler and the national myth of WW2, they feel they can't be. In contrast, Germany was one of the most educated and tolerant countries of Europe, but now it is associated with rabid nationalism. And ethnocentrism has been derided for 80 years, leading to the situation wherein people have to hate or at the very least not care about their nations, or pretend that they're just memes & documents, despite nation-states being the founding elements of the post-1848 world order.
