The difference is that cops are in control when they raid some guy for pot. They usually stack up at night when the person is sleeping and literally break the door down, along with windows, and shoot any animals that obstruct them in any way. It's all 100% legal too. In fact, most people don't know this, but there is such a thing as sneak and peek warrants. The feds can get a warrant from an appointed Judge to search your home for evidence of a crime without you ever knowing about it.
