Swedes and immigrants don't mix. Conformity is a core Swedish trait, this is why at the same time many Swedes will talk positively about immigration / multiculturalism, but never socialize with immigrants because the immigrants don't conform to Swedish society. Basically when a Swede says they like multiculturalism, what they actually mean is that they like people of different colours that behave exactly like what is expected of a good socialist. They don't want an arab that believes in god and lives a traditional life. An atheist arab that loves LGBT and Eurovision on the other hand is acceptable.

I thought so too until I learned Scandinavians don't feed their guests. They literally tell their guest to wait in a separate room while the "host" eats a meal with the rest of the family. Expecting otherwise is entitlement and bad manners on the guests part. If he wants to have lunch, he needs to schedule that in advance.

Actually it's the opposite. The reason being that northern people are less exposed to the consequences of immigration than those in the south. The true believers of the social democratic vision are found in the north, while the openly racist are found in the furthest south.

A swede will share their true beliefs with someone who agrees. Otherwise it's mask on. But it's difficult to generalize when it comes to this, some are more open than others. We certainly don't have a culture of open-minded, free debate between opposing views.

Something still has to set a standard on what is considered "normal". It has to be either the view of the majority or a tyranny of institutions. The latter usually happens as a democracy transforms into an oligarchy. In Soviet Union it used to be the political system or the "party", which was sort of a mix of political institutions and intelligence/law enforcement agencies that had an official ideology. Real politics was discussed in private. From the outside Sweden looks as if someone's been importing American progressivism and using the power of institutions to popularise it.
