Whether you can heart disease, cancer, or some other chronic fatal disease, the way you die, at the end, is your body becomes so weak that it cannot fight off simple infections. This leads to lung infections that become pneumonia. Pneumonia is what does the actual killing, not the heart disease, not the cancer, not whatever else.
Death by pneumonia is a form of death by drowning. Over a period of weeks, then days, then hours, you slowly suffocate, and it gets progressively worse. Imagine living like this. What's the point?
We need voluntary euthanasia for those who are at End of Life stage and who face an excruciating death by asphyxiation.

This is true. I took care of my father at the end. He had terminal cancer and he got so weak he couldn't cough up phlegm. He puked up a bunch of green phlegm the day before he died and the next time it accumulated he choked on it. I was giving him water sponges to suck on and it did him it. It was fucking awful, he was struggling and my brother and I took his hands and he just threw them up in panic. He lay there slowly asphyxiating. It was 2am and I went to bed, an hour or so my brother woke me up and told me he thought he had passed. My brother was making a late meal at the time so my dad was in there alone for an hour and died by himself suffocating on his own phlegm.
Yeah I'm glad Canada has this now. Like my cat died with more dignity than my dad. Quick shot, totally peaceful and over in seconds.
If I get horrible dementia or a slow painful death to cancer, please, just let me go out peacefully before making my family go through that shit.
