it will be interesting to see how this plays out for them, i get the impression that the oil companies are a lot more savvy to this kind of public perception manipulation than you'd think. take plastic recycling for example - you can't actually recycle plastic, but they made everyone think you can so they would use more of it. they literally invented a quasireligious ritual to free people from the guilt of trashing the environment so they would consoom more. the democrats have their own guilt-based religion going on as well, but it seems like they're an even match at a minimum
