if your showers are weak and it takes a long time to wash shampoo out of your hair. feels like the water is basically trickling out of the shower head, not like the old showers you had while you were young. there is a bright piece of plastic inside your shower head restricting the water
>grab shower head and try twisting it >should twist off easily at some point >peer into open shower head pipe that you and now holding >see bright coloured plastic disk with holes in it >get a pair of tweezers something pointy and pop it out >put shower head back onto pipe
now your showers can be as soft or as hard as you would like.
I grew up being the only guy in a house of women and learned to take really fast showers or risk running out of hot water. There really isn't any reason to be in there longer than say 2-3 min as a dude max. What the hell are you doing? Where not chicks running 4+ different hair treatments Turn radio on, warm up shower. One song max and out.. it's not so much about saving water as time, I got more important stuff to do.

A similar process happens for EVERY use of water. No water is destroyed. The best you could do is evaporate it and then it blows away somewhere else, but since water systems can now effectively span continents and use the ocean, reservoirs and the water table, this isn't an issue.
