In my travels I've noticed a CLEAR and obvious difference between towns in blue/purple areas (NE, Mid-Atlantic, Upper Midwest) and those in red areas (the South, Great Plains, SW, etc.)
Blue/purple areas: >Picturesque and villages and small cities >Gorgeous churches, libraries, courthouses, and other public buildings everywhere >Houses are attractive and well-built >Tons of small businesses >Festivals, picnics, and community events all summer long >High trust society, everyone is friendly >Volunteer fire departments, food pantries, Rotary clubs, and other civic organizations abound >Even in visibly poorer areas, the streets are clean and there is obvious civic pride >Happy white children playing in the street, parents don't even feel the need to watch them
Red areas: >Endless strip malls and big-box stores >Few public buildings, those that do exist look like oversized cardboard boxes. >Houses are either prefab modular homes, trailers, or cookie-cutter McMansions with no detail work. >No business except Walmarts and chain stores >Entire population looks perpetually assmad and is morbidly obese >No civic organizations, everyone just watches TV at home >Except in wealthy areas literal trash heaps are strewn about the side of the road everywhere >Goblinoid children are never let out of parent's sight, presumably because they're afraid they'd get run over or shot
Of course I'm only comparing white areas here. Black areas are terrible no matter where you are. But it's not like red states have fewer negros than blue states. Anyway what gives? Why are Republican-run areas so trashy? I have a few theories but I want to hear what you all think.
I'm talking about small towns and cities, not gated banker communities or anything. Some of these places are legitimately poor but still pleasant.

Yeah. Historical white churches with steeples from the 1700s and beautiful Catholic Churches and cathedrals from the 1800s-early 1900s ins yes ad or ugly stadium sized glass mega churches or strip mall “churches”. The congregations are a shadow of their former selves but the buildings are nice.

i guess if you're talking solely about the architecture they can be nice but aren't the people of a church more important than the building itself?
