bull-fucking-shit. the problem is that there aren’t any suburban hubs. have you ever been anywhere on the west coast around a major city? the suburbs can go on for dozens or a hundred miles in every fucking direction. not only would you need a jillion small hubs feeding into centralized ones (good luck scheduling that) you’d need massive parking in or mass transit to/from those smaller hubs. europe never really did the suburbs thing the same way since cities had been around forever and routes established as mass transit became a thing. there simply isn’t the same suburban sprawl. for fuck’s sake look at the tricounty area of portland oregon? being the hippie faggots they are, they built a light rail system that goes from hillsboro to the airport through downtown. unless you just happen to live along that line, it sucks. it sucks a lot. to the point here it’s not even worth considering using it. that’s in a comparatively smaller area to anywhere else that you’d want to put trains in. mass transit, especially trains, don’t are fucking terrible in the suburbs. that’s why they don’t exist in the us.

You can’t just have railways into the city, you have to have a working city transit as well. And since it’s impractical to have transit going literally everywhere, cities have to be somewhat safe and walkable. They keep floating the idea of mass transit from the airport in New Orleans to the city, but once someone is in the coty, what are they going to do? Ride the fucking bus/get mugged instantaneously?

Why aren’t cities safe? Why don’t they have money for public transit and pedestrian infrastructure?

Look at Portland, OR or Seattle. Both have very low violent crime compared to other cities their size, and both have decent public transit and pedestrian (and bicycle) infrastructure. What’s so different about Portland and Detroit? Anyone know?

We just dont have trains here. Our public transport is insanely underfunded compared to other countries, americans are addicted to their cars for some reason.

yeah, in majors cities dipshit. running a municipal subway ain’t the same fucking thing as running a regional, national, or international railroad. you’re a dipshit with horrid taste if you like the suburbs, but whatever, fine. the problem is that the suburbs we the product of economic prosperity that no longer fucking exists. the whole idea, which was completely fucking alien at the time, was that you too could be like a rich guy and live in the country but still make it in to your job in the city. that took cars, lots of roads, and cheap fuel which was all fine in the ‘50s and ‘60s but sucks balls now.
