Eventually one realizes that unlimited individual freedom just means those with the most individual power will fill in the vacuum left by a weak government. In the case of America, our corporations have become our de facto government. We don’t see franchises like Walmart and McDonalds as invaders or conquerors, even though they’ve rapidly encroached upon our cities. But the truth of the matter is: when you’re inside a corporate business, you’re abiding by THEIR laws, not the laws of your country. So regulation at a government level becomes inevitable lest the bodies which are governed become stronger than those which are supposed to be governing. The maintenance and longevity of the state makes self preservation through regulation a necessity.

How symbiotic is the relationship between the corporations you mentioned and the government? Many corporations have relied on, or even influence regulations that harm other businesses. If you look at a corrupt corporation, most of its corruption will be enabled/amplified by the government for mutual benefit. There’s a group of people between both the governments and corporations that need wiped off of the face of the planet, no ideology will be viable until then.

I'm still libertarian. I do realize however that it only works when there's no external threats to the country.
