Why is the left gung ho about gun control? Giving more power to governments only makes it difficult to protest when things go wrong for workers. I can understand lefties wanting healthcare for all, basic income, and paid leave to improve the conditions for workers. But would it not follow that the workers need to be strong and armed in case a government or private entity becomes too aggressive against them i.e. China?

We need guns: The propagandists that run our country want them gone for a reason. We're kept from organizing by organs of the state, and things are much more comfortable than they would be under war, so we don't get together and assert our interests, but the prospect of us resisting what they have in mind on the individual level bothers the agenda setters. It's hard to put people into camps if they shoot at the police. They don't even need to win once, the police will become hesitant to abduct dissidents.
