Serious question

Will people stop working if inflation of 8-9-10% continues in the next 4-6 months? Historically speaking, do people continue to work under the high inflation, or do they quit? I can see many opting out of the workforce (causing massive labor shortages) as working will simply not be worth it anymore.

No because landlords will have zero sympathy.

This doesn't really make any sense since 1 your wages also go up at an inflated rate and 2 you need more money so you quit working?

I literally have enough food, water, energy, tools, books, and stuff that I can just stay home and fool around whilat ye starve.

Why would you quite your job voluntarily if unemployment benefits are even lower? No, it will be different:
>increasing inflation will lead to lower consumption
>lower consumption, i.e. less demand, will lead to less production
>lower production will lead to less workforce needed, and companies firing people
And voila, we have stagflation.

Low end jobs based on tips will make less money. Then those businesses may close. Then there’s no money for rent. Then they get roommates or move in with parents. Then there are more rental units available.

But yes, eventually people will stop working by finding or better jobs or just leave if it takes two hours of pay just to get to and from work.

>This doesn't really make any sense
Niggas just want to be home 24/7 to play Diablo Immortal.

I guess lockdowns have made it easier for people to become NEETs? I am generally speaking about young people (18-30) in the workforce without children. Obviously, no one with a family will quit his job even if inflation is 50%.

It actually takes relatively minimal income to live if you have some inflation protection such as owning your own home and vehicle.

A single guy that owns his home and car can live on $30-40k per year and not eat ramen.

>Historically speaking, do people continue to work under the high inflation, or do they quit?
Historically speaking, they keep doing what they're doing. If unemployment goes up that's usually because of job losses rather than people refusing to work. Granted, we've never had such high inflation combined with a prevalent anti-work sentiment, so I could see things going a different way.
>I guess lockdowns have made it easier for people to become NEETs?
No, it just opened pandora's box. People have been told their entire careers they had to go to the office to get work done and that work from home wasn't possible because of software and stolen time or whatever. Then they seamlessly pivoted to work from home and back again. Why? Because fuck you, come in or you're fired.

95% of "people" will do whatever the fuck social media and the TV tells them to do until they die. Anybody who hasn't worked that out after the covid "pandemic" is a fucking retard. The end.

They will under harsh penalties.

Working was never worth it.

Nah, they will load their own children into gas chambers if the tv tells them to.

Inflation has been happening for a year and my wages haven't gone up at all. I am literally making 80% of what I was making last year, at least according to spending power

>your wages also go up at an inflated rate
lol

The go down usually.

No. Yes. You're a delusional idiot.

Sounds like it's time for a new job

The move is to hammer 8% nonstop while it’s really 20%.

This.
