Why does Nasa even exist still? It is literally a cold war relic that is costing the taxpayers billions per year while companies like SpaceX are the only things keeping our dreams of going back to the Moon or reaching Mars even remotely possible. Why the fuck are we still paying for these kikes to sit around and play with their dicks while Capitalists are out here doing the real work to advance our civilization? Nasa is the most worthless government agency besides the EPA and they're only getting more money because... reasons while the country collapses economically and socially before our very eyes.
NASA still has a lot of sattelites that can collect data on atmospheric and weather conditions, in fact I think they run something like 60-80% of the earth-facing science sattelites.. So perhaps they shouldn't be entirely defunded since that might make it impossible to do weather forecasts with any sort of accuracy

NASA exists to spread out its budget to as many congressional districts as possible so the corrupt politicians can brag about how many jobs they created. Sometimes, as a side effect, this spreading out of budget yields a rocket or two, but it is not the intended effect.
NASA didn't have any relevant space faring capability because the private market was supposed to make it. That's why nasa have them tons of money to develop it. The government decided years ago to privatize that function
Also these figures you see about how amazing space x is are made up. Look up the contracts for what they charge NASA and **far** higher
Like their first launch of of astronauts they say it's only 60 million (per astronaut) but you look up the contact and it cost 500 million and that doesn't include all the money given for development
Also space x would never have been able to develop their rocket without all the money spent by NASA. Also NASA never made this stuff anyways musk is just a new government contractor doing it instead of the last ones
