18 is a bit young but the general idea is to make the kids independent. Helps instill some drive into them. Sink or swim motivation. After high school, if my son isn’t working or going to college, he’s getting the boot relatively quickly. Not kicking my daughter out tho, she will be under close supervision until marriage.

i dont think i'll have kids until ive got enough saved up to afford them until they're 18. google says it would cost 270k to raise a kid from birth to 18. i think having a kid without that much money saved up would be irresponsible because you're essentially relying on shit that can be outside of your control if you don't have that money saved up. i kinda think you'd need a lot more money saved up if you want to be really safe with raising a kid.
