What happened is islam never became modernized. If you look at christianity and judaism they both had many reforms and are more assimilated with the modern world. Most Islamic countries are still outdated with the modern world. When they come to the modern world they eventually become more progressive with each passing generation.

Christianity is strongly linked and changed with the western world. Majority Islamic countries havent been as tainted, they havent radically changed their ideals and values as much. If a muslim moves to america, they still have their cultural roots to look back on and take examples on how to view the world from. But I have also met muslims in america, not many, who hold similar views and values to western Christians because they were exposed to or grew up in the different culture.
