The game is beyond pozzed. So much so that they have to go to the classic version and retroactively pozz it. They've changed several quest descriptions where an NPC talks about another female NPC and changed the word "woman" to "warrior" or "shaman" or whatever class.
One questline worth a ton of experience in Org that led into Azshara was missing for two years because the male Orc questgiven called the female high elf turn-in a "vile woman".
Every NPC named after an original dev has been changed because white man bad and muh Cosby suite.

It used to be a white man's game in a white man's time. Now it's niggerfied garbage in a world of niggerfied garbage.

Maybe for you. Most of my friends that I speak to that I used to play it with always nostalgise over the community aspects and sort of walking into the unknown and exploring. Maybe I'm sperging here but I think the game appealed to the European Spenglerian Faustian Spirit in that regard. My favourite game in my youth was CS 1.6, just pubstomping with the bros, many servers for all sorts of different game modes. That game still has the tightest gameplay I've ever seen.

I've played Classic. The gameplay doesn't draw me and the community aspect has been annihilated. Maybe I'm in the minority here but I feel like as a game it was a distinctly mid 2000s phenomenon that no game can ever recreate due to societal shifts that have occurred since then.

Private servers had that community. I played vanilla AND private servers and classic. Vanilla was great, all the social interactions and very fun. Private server vanilla had the same thing, it was a great experience and probably the most fun I’ve had since original BC. I quit retail in cata and then tried blizzard classic and it was the gayest faggot shit imaginable. Try a private server and be amazed, the difficulty in setting up a private server filters out all the brain dead normalfags like original wow did.
