There was a good prediction a few years about Biden being pushed in order to push through civil war: keep pushing, making it *obvious* the election was stolen, rubbing the noses of "Donald Trump supporters" in it until they resorted to violence, then pulling out the "THEY SHOT FIRST!!!!" card and retaliating. -- Keep that general idea, but expand it to things like gun-control and food-shortages being pushed.
Remember: if they get civil-war or mass-starvation, then they have *already* achieved a major weakening of the ability to resist their tyranny.

It's a "let's you and him fight" strategy.
The elites think that a civil war will be "confined" such that it won't touch them (and some of the bigger elites can easily fly away until things are over) -- and a civil war will *necessarily* deplete the supplies and reserves (from ammo to equipment to men willing to fight) that would allow resistance to something like a "UN Peacekeeping Army".
Also, if things get bad enough, they hope to get people to agree to sell their rights for a bowl of soup.
UBI is a similar trap, but pushed along the economic lines: make everything so expensive that you rely on government to achieve a basic standard of living... then slowly push out requirements for you to keep getting UBI.
